Description

Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine. When the body comes into contact with something it is allergic to, such as pollen, animal hair or fur, house dust, or insect bites, the body produces a chemical called histamine. This can cause itchy eyes, watery eyes, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and a possibly itchy rash. Chlorpheniramine maleate blocks the effects of histamine, which can reduce these symptoms.

Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergies, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms include rash, watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat/skin, coughing, runny nose and sneezing.

Chlorpheniramine inhibits the binding of [3H]trimethamine to histamine H1 receptors in guinea pig cortex with IC50 of 8.8 nM. Chlorpheniramine has a dose effect on the proliferation of MCF-7, M-D-A-MB 231 and Ehrlich cells, and can significantly reduce the translation of ornithine decarboxylase mRNA by 50% to 70% at 250 μM. Chlorpheniramine displaces [3H]pyridinamine from human histamine receptor subtype 1 expressed in CHO cells with IC50 of 66 nM. Chlorpheniramine has antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum CQS strain (D6) and MDR strain (Dd2), with IC50 of 61.2 uM and 3.9 uM, respectively. Chlorpheniramine can inhibit concanavalin-a-induced mouse spleen lymphocyte proliferation with an IC50 of 33.4 μM. Chlorpheniramine has a concentration-dependent inhibitory effect on histamine-induced [Ca2+]i in human salivary gland cells, with an IC50 of 128 nM, while the inhibitory effect of carbewol-induced [Ca2+]i is 43.9 μM.

Application

Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antiallergic drug, mainly used for the treatment of a series of allergic skin diseases, such as urticaria, eczema or allergic dermatitis, especially allergic dermatitis caused by seasonal changes, recurrence The rate is extremely high, and it is especially difficult to cure completely.
